Hands of Change is a
non-profit arts and education organization
dedicated to increasing awareness and generating
aid for young women in crisis worldwide. Through
our unique employment and mentoring program, Hands
of Change employs young women in Los Angeles from
educationally and economically disadvantaged
backgrounds to craft jewelry, which is then sold at
in-home parties hosted by women across the country.
Proceeds from jewelry sales are used to improve the
educational welfare of young women and children in
developing and transitional countries.
In addition to jewelry design, the local workshop serves as a broader learning and mentoring environment. Our community volunteers take time from their accomplished careers to mentor these young women and give them guidance as they navigate their future. We also have monthly field trips to provide valuable exposure to a variety of cultural and educational events.
Beyond this, our unique mentoring program also offers the girls the opportunity to earn educational scholarships based on their economic need, their specific goals and their level of participation.
Our program creates a secure environment for our mentees to explore their feelings and feel a sense of support and consistency in their lives. In addition, in knowing that they are playing a key role in raising money for young women less fortunate than them abroad, our mentees develop a sense of empowerment and self-esteem.
Hands of Change is a non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
